I’ve spent over 20 years working in high-consequence environments, from policing through to leading safety investigations across government and major projects.
I started my career with the Queensland Police, where I advanced to Detective Sergeant, investigating serious and complex matters where the outcome mattered.
From there, I moved into workplace safety with Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, leading high-profile investigations across multiple industries — including one of Queensland’s first industrial manslaughter cases.
I later led the Investigation Team at the Electrical Safety Office, responsible for complex investigations that resulted in successful prosecutions and real accountability. More recently, I led the investigative function on Snowy 2.0 — one of Australia’s largest and most complex infrastructure projects.
Across every role, one thing has stayed consistent:
Most investigations focus on what happened.
I focus on why — and how to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
I don’t approach investigations as a process to complete — I treat them as a problem to solve.
That means:
- Cutting through assumptions and surface-level findings
- Identifying the real drivers behind events
- Producing reports that stand up to scrutiny — from regulators, legal teams, and leadership
My approach is grounded in experience, not theory. I’ve worked on both sides — as an investigator and as part of organisations under pressure — so I understand what matters, what holds up, and what gets exposed.
I’m also the author of:
- The Art of Investigation
- ICAM Investigations Made Easy
- ICAM Investigations Made Easy: The AI Companion
My work focuses on making investigations clearer, more structured, and more practical — without losing the depth required for real-world application.
I’ve spoken at industry forums including:
- National Heads of Workplace Authorities Investigators Conference
- Office of Industrial Relations Statewide Investigations Conference
And I continue to work directly with organisations to build capability — not just complete investigations.
When you engage me, you’re not getting a generic safety consultant.
You’re getting someone who:
- Has led serious investigations at the highest level
- Understands how regulators think
- Knows what stands up — and what doesn’t
- Delivers clarity in situations where things are often unclear
At QualSafe, the focus isn’t just on completing investigations.
It’s about helping organisations understand what really happened — and giving them the confidence that their response will hold up under scrutiny.
